The long awaited android simple server version 3 with improved features is now finally available for download.

And now you can even improve your browsing experience with this latest version and your MTN BBLITE data plans.

Remember as promised that the simple server version will be coming with in-app VPN service, meaning that you will no longer need to use autoproxy or proxydroid to power up other apps if you activate the VPN feature in this new version.

Aside from the additional VPN feature and unlike the previous version that has no support for hotspot tethering of internet connectivity, other new features that you will notice in this latest version is the use of VPN with hotspot for rooted devices, multiple profile management and it offers better network stability.

The only downside for now is that to make use of the VPN and hotspot tethering features, you have to subscribe for the service, but the developer is working on how to offer the VPN feature free of charge for certain length of time for test driving purpose before one can finally decide on whether to subscribe or not.

Note that, apart from the VPN and hotspot features, every other things work perfectly with the local server connection mode just like as in the previous version and with even better stability and some bug fixes found in the previous vesion.

Where do I download the latest simple server version 3 and how do I configure it for my MTN BBLITE browsing?

You must have subscribed to any of the BBLITE or BBMIDI daily or weekly plan and you must configure your phone APN network settings to use default MTNAPN which is web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net then the Proxy should be 127.0.0.1 andPort should be 8080

·     If you want to download or upgrade your simple sever version 2 to 3,download simple server version 3 here

To configure it for the MTN BBLITE browsing, follow the steps below

·     Launch the download simple server version 3 and the first page you will see is the set up page

·     In the Set Connection Mode, choose whether to use local sever (normal) or the VPN feature ( for now choose local server since you might not want to subscribe/pay for the VPN)

·     Secondly below is the Profile line, you can skip it if you  just want to create a single profile or or click on it give the profile set up a name (any name)

·     Down to General Settings, click on it and set up the parameters as follows;

·     Thick the Enable Proxy checkbox

·     Proxy Host: Input 10.199.212.2 and OK it

·     Proxy Port: Input 8080 and OK it

·     Below, tick Enable Injection checkbox if it is not already ticked

·     Then come down to Injection Query/URL, tap it and insert http://web.blackberry.com

·     Down next is Injection Host, insert web.blackberry.com

·     Touch the last line which is the Injection Line, and tap on the enter button of your onscreen key 4 times

·     Go back now on the first page and skip the VPN settings (since you are not using it for now) to the Local Server Settings

·     In the Local Server Settings, scroll and touch the bottom  Log Level line and select DEBUG

·     Finally go back and switch on the simple server by taping at the Start VPN button at the top

At this point since you are not subscribed to the embedded simple server VPN service, you will still need AutoProxy or Proxydroid to power up all your android app
